How to do the TRX Hamstring Curl
Setup: Secure a suspension trainer to an anchor point above ground. Lay on your back on a mat with your head facing away from the anchor point. Place your heels in the suspension trainer's foot cradles, ensuring they are secure. Position your body so that when you extend your legs, they are straight underneath the anchor point. Your body should be in a straight line from shoulders to heels.
Starting Position: Lie flat on your back with your legs straight, heels suspended in the foot cradles. Push your hips up off the ground by contracting your glutes and driving your heels into the foot cradles to create a strong, stable bridge position.
Executing the Exercise: While keeping your hips raised, flex your knees and use your hamstrings to pull your heels towards your glutes. Continue to pull your heels in until you have achieved maximum flexion of the knees. Hold the curled position briefly, ensuring that your hips remain elevated and not sagging.
Returning to Starting Position: Slowly extend your knees to return your legs to the starting position. Maintain the hip elevation throughout the entire movement. Focus on keeping the movement smooth and controlled.
Breathing: Inhale as you extend your legs to the starting position. Exhale as you flex your knees and curl your heels towards your glutes.
Repetitions: Perform the desired number of repetitions according to your fitness level and the goal of your workout.
Safety and Tips: Keep your core engaged throughout the exercise to prevent your lower back from arching excessively. Make sure your suspension trainer is securely fastened to prevent any accidents. If you're new to this exercise, perform it with a reduced range of motion until you build up strength and stability.
