How to do the Hip Raise Twist

Setup

  1. Begin lying flat on your back on a yoga mat.

  2. Extend your arms by your sides, palms pressed firmly into the floor for stabilization.

  3. Lift your legs and bend your knees at a 90-degree angle, positioning your thighs perpendicular to the floor.

Movement

  1. Engage your core to initiate the movement, focusing on drawing your belly button toward your spine.

  2. Exhale as you lift your hips off the floor, using your lower abdominal muscles.

  3. As your hips rise, simultaneously exert a controlled twist to rotate your pelvis to one side.

  4. Keep your upper back and shoulders pinned firmly to the mat throughout the movement.

  5. Inhale as you slowly and with control lower your hips back to the starting position.
